Indus Water Treaty Suspension and Lessons for the Proposed SL – India Power Grid Interconnection Project

Introduction On the 22 nd of April 2025, the serene valleys of Pahalgam, Kashmir was disturbed by a brutal terrorist attack which killed 26 innocent tourists. This resulted in the suspension of Indus Water Treaty by India. Above development and the proposed SL – India Power Grid Interconnection Project reminded me of a small section in the famous treatise on statecraft, “The Prince” by Niccolo Machiavelli which says:

Introduction… This article deals with the virus of ragging which has contaminated the Free Education System of Sri Lanka, creating headlines from time to time. The most recent news came from the Sabaragamuwa University, where an undergraduate allegedly committed suicide subsequent to being ragged (Ada Derana, 2025b) and from the Kuliyapitiya Technical College (Ada Derana, 2025a). 

National Security; In the Backdrop of the Assassination Inside the Hulftsdorp Court House

Introduction On the 19 th February 2025, organized crime suspect “Sanjeewa” was shot dead inside the Hulftsdorp Magistrate Court in front the honorable judg by an assassin disguised as a lawyer (“incident”). This incident questioned the security situation of the country even though the alleged assassin was apprehended, some hours later, by the elite Special Task Force.
