During the final week of November 2025, the ordinary lives of Sri Lankans were abruptly disrupted by the ruthless and catastrophic cyclonic storm “ Ditwah ” which battered the island with heavy rainfall, unprecedented floods and deadly landslides. Unfortunately, it went on to cause hundreds of deaths and substantial damage to a vast number of private properties and public infrastructure.

  Introduction Marking a first time in Sri Lanka’s political history, former Head of State and 08 th Executive President Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe (“RW”) was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department and remanded by the Colombo Fort Magistrate on the 22 nd of August 2025.

Introduction On the 22 nd of April 2025, the serene valleys of Pahalgam, Kashmir was disturbed by a brutal terrorist attack which killed 26 innocent tourists. This resulted in the suspension of Indus Water Treaty by India. Above development and the proposed SL – India Power Grid Interconnection Project reminded me of a small section in the famous treatise on statecraft, “The Prince” by Niccolo Machiavelli which says:

Introduction On the 19 th  February 2025, organized crime suspect “Ganemulla Sanjeewa” was shot dead inside the Hulftsdorp Magistrate Court before the honorable judge by an assassin disguised as a lawyer (“incident”). This incident questioned the security situation of the country, even though the alleged assassin was apprehended, some hours later, by the elite Special Task Force.
